Map One was founded together with the designer Gerlinde Schuller (Information Design Studio, Amsterdam) to work on self-initiated publications through an interdisciplinary approach.
In September 2006 we published the book 'Making the Impossible Possible' which documents a unique accumulation of superlatives. Light is shed on two business strategies – CargoLifter and Tropical Islands – attempting to realize mankind’s primordial dreams, the dream of flying and the dream of paradise. The scene takes place in the world’s largest self-supporting hall in a small village close to Berlin. We compare these two visions on their paths to implementation, while simultaneously putting them in the context of current international events.
The documentation is supplemented with text contributions by: Sam Jacob (FAT Ltd., London), Dingeman Kuilman (Premsela Design Foundation, Amsterdam), Jochen Becker (critic and curator, Berlin) and Prof. Dr. Bernd Kriegesmann (Institute for Applied Innovation Research, Bochum).
Order the book through Amazon or directly through MAP ONE.
